I am just wondering if there’s anything special you need to do to install an APK file on a Kindle fire? We keep getting a message like “invalid or corrupted file” even though the same APK works on other Android phones and tablets. It won’t even install.
Any ideas?
our specific error on kindle reads:
“There was an error parsing the package”
We had an older build that worked fine (although possibly tight on memory), but this new one simply won’t load.
Any ideas?
I had a similar problem before when I install a newer version built in the Editor and did a Build n Run on the attached KIndle Fire (where an older version was already installed from the Kindle Market). Even if I tried to re-install the older version, it will not work. Kindle Fire somehow got its own tastes on how to manage the install etc…the loading time is also very different from a typical Andorid phone. I will try to re-install the app again since I just did an updated release on my game few days ago and see if it solves my problem.
Edit-
Well, I just downloaded my updated app and it installed without any problem. When I was testing it, the bundle version and version code was a little messed up that time. I would suggest you ++ the bundle version and version code so the uploaded APK can have a distinctive symbol when it get parsed. I also un-install my old version from the Kindle before I download the new version again. Hope this helps a little. btw, The APK file I released on Kindle is exactly the same from the one I released in the Android Market.
