So I am new to unity 3D and game development in general. Any tips to help me get started on my first game. The game that I want to make is an interactive novel. Kind of like the ones in the website : www.choiceofgames.com .
I just want like multiple choice buttons and a textbox that changes depending on where I am in the story and the choices that I made. Does that seem like I am over my head?
Well, Unity may be overkill for that sort of thing.
However, if you can spring for an asset like UTAGE, it’ll make your job about a zillion times easier. With that you pretty much define your entire game in spreadsheets (plus graphic/sound assets).

Scope smaller.
Whatever your first idea was, take it, and half it. Then do it again. And again. Eventually it will be impossible to further cut your idea in half.
That’s an ideal first game.
