since 3d buzz actually refused my subscription due to that i live in the middle east , and they didn’t reply my email regarding asking a friend of mine in the states to buy me the subscription. sadly , i have to look for another place , yes of course there are a lot of tutorials, but to be honest , i love their style , the fun atmosphere, the stupid jokes, the fun comments and the random remarks about recording the videos at 4 am
those actually keep me awake while viewing the tutorials even when im tired.
so if there are people teaching with the same style , please let me know .
ps. that doesn’t mean im not following or appreciating the other tutorials, i am really thankful for everyone who’s put his stuff and trying to teach people online . for everyone is trying to help people. thank you.
I’ve never done a 3D Buzz tutorial, but if you are looking for witty banter, have you tried the tornado twins? That seems to be their trademark. Odd that you can’t buy a sub due to locality. I would assume they are limiting locations due to credit card issue rather than ip address. That being said, there are many many good tutorials out there. I like the InsurgentX’s tutorials as they are very straight forward.
Same situation here, I live in Hong Kong, but I need to say million thanks to 3D Buzz for reject my order. If you want to learn some math, 3D modeling, AI, C++, even electronics, here you go:
thank you guys for the reply. i appreciate it a lot, i’ve already bookmarked unity cookie and insurgentx , they seem really interesting i didn’t know about them. thank you so much.
flim, to be honest. i can understand why they’re paranoid since the law cant catch you over there, they make a living from teaching, if everything they teach is leaked out , then no one would really bother going to them and learning from them “why should i pay if i can get it for free” . even though i do pay to support those who work hard. but donations is never enough.
i just say it really sucks , but can’t be helped, i can easily pay one of my friends in the states and get an account. but then again i dont want them to cause problems to my friend if they’ve done some ip filtering and found out that the buyers isn’t the same as the student. i did contact them about it. but i didn’t get any reply and i think i’ll never get one as well.
thankfully the resources are all over the net and they’re pretty amazing and slowly im getting better and better
as for tornado twins ,they were one of the 1st tutorials i completed, i really enjoyed learning from them .
They’ve basically blacklisted certain countries where they’ve actually had experience of widespread piracy of their tutorials by their customers. It’s a pretty black and white attitude to take but that’s the only way they’ve managed to tackle the piracy. I’m surprised you didn’t get a response though, maybe you caught them at a particularly busy time. If you sent a message last week then that’s right in the middle of their Christmas holidays. I did get a message from Jason Busby around that time but it was personal and not business related.
Also quickest method usually is to PM Zak on their forums.
The TornadoTwins think they’re funny and they’re BORING. I haven’t been able to find any chronological playlist or video sets by them. All of their videos are jumbled together and there’s no progressive teaching in their videos. All they do it talk about randoms topics in Unity.
you are quite right. like i said, i dont blame them and probably like you said they were busy, i did get a reply from zack, here it is

Sorry for the delay; I’m catching up after the holidays.
There isn’t much we can do. We have had numerous problems with certain countries where copyright laws are not enforced, and we simply cannot release our content into those areas. You have my personal apologies for any inconvenience this causes.
Cheers!

hello guys at 3dbuzz , how are ya , wish you’re having a very blessed christmas.
well, to be honest, i thought your site was like any other site , all i had to do is pay and then i’ll get access to the material, sadly … after i read the page in the store section… i realized it was impossible for me to actually continue learning with you guys.
i understand that what you’re doing to protect your hard work and i respect that. but i was wondering if there’s another way for me , i have a friend of mine that is a U.S. resident , i could ask her to buy me the account but at the same time i dont want her to get into trouble if you guys see that someone from an unsupported country is accessing the data.
the point is, i really enjoy your way of teaching and its exactly what i need , because most of the tutorials are like “umm do this, ummm do that, ummm and this”, before i know i’d be sleeping or changing the tutorials , in your videos, i can say that i really enjoy the casual atmosphere and making people laugh and smile while actually trying to learn.
i would really appreciate it if we can work it out. if not , its been a great pleasure watching your free videos and i wish you guys the best and the most successful future
thank you.
i could ask my friend to actually record the videos and send me the files , since im the only one who’s gonna view them, i doubt she’d get in trouble, but then again, if there’s a 1% chance that she might get into trouble, i would never ask her to do so.
all i can say is , i do wish them success . would be nice to have someone who’d teach people what he learned from 3dbuzz, but i guess we’ll have to wait till then
as for tchpowdog, well, i think they’re funny too and JUST alittle boring, not that boring but yeah, i had to go zzzzzzz a little bit somewhere in the middle but i have to say, they’re a little bit better than a lot of those “umm, today we’re gonna. ummm, i dont know, ummmm. lets see, ummm, yeah. ummmm” if you know what i mean. , bad resolution, low sound. you know the rest.
im still at the beginning of burgzerg’s tutorials , i am enjoying learning from em cuz there’s a lot of C# scripting which teaches me a lot about the language and how to use it with unity3d
I do not think that is much for the piracy issue, while for other problems related to the fact that some countries (USA to begin with) has problems with other countries, so any kind of interaction nowadays, especially of economical nature, may be seen as complication (if you live in USA and haven’t heard yet about the crazy bill called PIPA and SOPA just take a look and check what is about to happen to the freedom on internet). You can pirate contents no matter where you are, so the geographical location has not that great impact on piracy, especially on video piracy…
You can get the free tutorials from their site without paying a dime, these tutorials are enough to make you start and even more; you will have a lot to watch before that you will feel like you need a subscription and start the more advanced topics.
Tornadotwins are cool too; Lynda.com has 2 series where they teach how to make a simple game for iOS and in another course they use the standard Unity3d (they were made when Unity had 2 different versions…was that before 2.5?); you can get a subscription to Lynda.com or buy the DVD for each course.
Noesis also has good tutorials, but they are not totally free (there is a beginner course for free thou); another good place is burgzergarcade, that you already know; the guy knows how to make a lot of stuff and it is totally free (more than 300 videos; will take forever to watch them).
Plus he does mainly C# and I am on the C# faction lol; if you decide to not use only Unity3d and wanna use XNA, you will use the same exact language, so it is a good investment from the career perspective (boo and js are also very similar to the python and java languages, but there are some differences, so what you learn will require some tweaks down the road if you switch to pure Java or Python) .
Then there is youtube, that is full of great guys that has any kind of tutorial for Unity3d; just search for Unity3d and you will find what you need.
I think that I saw also on iTunes podcast/iTunesU something related to Unity; is worth checking there too.
So don’t worry about a single subscription; the alternatives are plenty, and in many cases free.
This is purely wrong; nobody will catch you if you record a video (ask people that did it for the past 35 years using VCR, or recorded songs from radio stations), but it is just plain wrong…is not like if nobody knows that you did something wrong it magically makes it something not wrong
Just avoid to get their material if your only alternative is to get someone recording copyrighted material and send it to you; you will feel better with your conscience and will put your head on the pillow at night knowing that you did the right thing…plus as you can see the alternatives are plenty; many people here made full games released on the app store without buying tons of tutorials
thanks for the post, i agree 100% with you =) thats why i didnt ask my friend to buy a subscription for me and send me the videos cuz there are alot of other options
as for C# , im into C# too , even though i love being lazy learning and would love to learn unityscript or bo, i did use python/ruby back when they first came out to give them a test. but before getting into unity i decided that i wanna make some softwares for android , so i was learning java for 6 months >.> before i stumbled upon unity, after checking C# , it is kinda similar to java, so it wasn’t really hard to pick up and i enjoy working with the IDE as well =)
but thank you so much for taking the time to reply
Hey there! We have a bunch of tutorials covering Unity and a variety of other game dev tools. Our video’s aren’t necessarily cheeky, but they’re great quality…and we accept international members
Please take a look at our e-learning resource and contact us if we can assit you with any questions at support@design3.com.
I should also mention we’re going to be releasing a large batch of Unity 3.5 tutorials in the coming months. A lot of excellent stuff to look forward to!
Here’s is a video I uploaded describing the best unity tutorials for shooters, beginner games, RPGs, etc. (There is no differance between unity free and pro for these tutorials. They work for either one) I think it’s pretty resourceful so please look into it as it is my first video and I need a boost in popularity. I haven’t been getting very many subscribers/views:( Feel free to leave comments and “spread the wealth” as long as you aren’t trolling. Here’s the video:
I don’t know about the other tutorials that you guys talked about, but i DO KNOW that alot of the tutorials mentioned here are perfect for learning unity and programming.
Also please make sure to READ THE DESCRIPTION. it is very important!!!
Also, please leave a comment if you have any questions!
Enjoy!
