I see a lot of models for free to download on google, but does anyone know of any sites that have whole worlds or levels already assembled free or cheap? I’m just looking for like 2 decent worlds to get into unity and use to prototype. Preferably a town or city, but anything would be fine.
Look for low poly city / neighborhood models on Google Warehouse, some of them are already converted to Collada Autodesk’s FBX exporter can change to FBX for you I think. You might want to check the licensing though. I am not sure if each poster can choose a license (like BlendSwap) or if a blanket license covers the entire sight.
I got this some time ago http://www.gameprefabs.com/products/show/683 it’s pretty cheap. However, it is an untextured model. If you consider getting it check the specs and query whether it is a set of models joined in a hierarchy or just one big mesh.
There are a few complete sample games made by the people at unity and all those assets are fine to use.
WOW great idea, already found like 5 big cities that are textured.
Check the license. And a big city is probably too big for mobile although I’ve always intended to try one of those models someday…
