I’m curious if anybody else in here came from torque 3D or 2D. I came from Torque 2D. I still plan on using it but it needs more complete documentation first. I’m thinking I like Unity more.
i do come from torque long time ago ( tge and tgb ), and switched to unity as fast as i could… im using unity since early 2009 and not looking back. and with the current state of unity you have to be nuts to not use it
I think what’s killing torque is the lack of a free version. I’m using the free version of Unity right now and I love it.
One of the main advantages with torque is once you purchase it you get the source code. Plus you get an automatic upgrade to studio. With this you can add ‘seats’ to temporarily or permanently assign to other developers. If I read right you get the studio access free. I tried purchasing Torque 3D to see if I could select a version and it automatically put the studio version in the cart with no additional cost. Plus for the price of their engines I do have to say it’s very good.
Torque is a dying engine… I tried it. It wasn’t bad but the documentation was horrible so I left
I really hope torque doesn’t die. The community there is one of the few communities I truly respect, and that takes a lot for me.
