Out of curiosity-- is anyone here working with large (25GB+) Unity projects?
The artist I’m working with (developing on Windows) recently imported some enormous Asset Store packages, bumping the project size up to more than 35GB. I’ve been developing fine with the Linux editor (latest 2019.4), but since his recent merge, importing takes several hours, and then crashes. I can’t even run Asset Hunter, or switch target platforms, without the editor crashing.
I’ve had to boot to Windows to try to fix some problems, and cleaning up unused assets on Windows did fix the problem, but this is going to keep happening. We’re looking into a multiple project setup (loading graphic-heavy scenes in with addressable assets), but that’s also likely to be a pain.
Anyone working on large, art-heavy projects in Linux? (I’ve used the Linux editor since 2018 on a variety of commercial and personal games, and while there have been pain points, it’s never been unusable.)
