Anyone seen a FusionFall post-mortem?

I’d like to get some insight into their design process, but I haven’t seen any developer commentary on the game anywhere.

We did a pre-post-mortem at Unite '08 - so, you’ll eventuelly be able to see the video of the speech, once Unite 08 videos are posted on this site.

Cool! I’ll be looking for it. We’ve been poking around with it in the office some, so it would be nice to hear about using Unity for a project this size.

I still don’t see anything about it on the Unite Presentations page. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I would love to see this presentation as well.

Unfortunately, I believe we were unable to post that video due to the existence of lawyers

LOL!! Darn lawyers always messing up the good stuff.

I was supposed to join Joe at Unity last year, but I was too busy trying to get FF out the door. As far as a post mortem: It wasn’t so much our lawyers, but more our PR crew. It’s their responsibility to talk about the game and release info about it. Since the game hadn’t shipped yet, it wouldn’t have been a ‘post’ mortem.

Now that FF is live, it’s a much more realistic request I’ll look into getting something for Unite this year. No promises, though! In the meantime, I may be able to answer a question or two here on the forums…

All I keep seeing is a still image:

  • Coming Soon To Asia Pacific *

I live in a country (indeed an entire continent), called “Australia”. It’s in the southern hemisphere. South of China, Japan, Cambodia, Java, Thailand, Indonesia, etc.

It occupys the geographical location made famous by Gulliver’s Travels.

Let me know when we can see it here as well.

I’ve seen a single copy at all the Best Buy’s around town here in Houston, although I think export laws would stop me from shipping you a copy :frowning: Oddly the box’s I saw didn’t mention Unity anywhere on them… I was hoping to see it on the box so I could buy it and just shelf it…

Below is the page I see when I point my browser at http://www.fusionfall.com

They have to translate it into Australian, you see. I think it takes some time to figure out which spots “mate” is appropriate in, and whether “goodonya” is one word or three.

Plus, every company struggles with the question of whether to do a separate “kiwi” edition or just send them the aussie one.

Yep. That must be it. They have to do the easy translations first: Mandarin, Khmer, Japanese, Thai, …

cheers

Oceania is always a bit tricky as their latency to the rest of the globe isn’t the best.

Also, who here does know exactly what series cartoon network has down under and which ones are the favs there …

those two things are pretty important for such a brand based game

Yep - and Europe as well - they’re always half a day behind. Can’t they catch up to the rest of the world? But the worst is America. While I’m out and about enjoying Wednesday, they’re still trying to get Tuesday done.
