Anyone seen animated fur textures?

Has anyone ever seen an animated creature with an animated fur textures (like a sprite-sheet) to make it movements look realistic without dynamic fur. but just an animated texture.

Why have i not seen it? although quite expensive on performance, I thought A low frame-rate animated texture sheet for a walking fury animal would look really good in a toon/stylized/anime game.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

A complete furred creature like Cousin It?
Shadow of the Colossus is probably the best example.
Most FF games prior to 10 have animated planer mapped “in-game” examples.
Check those resources.
