Anyone use an iPhone?

I just go back from the Apple store and played with an iPhone while I was there. (I even searched around the Unity3D site and forums.) My current cell contract will be up in a couple of months and I’ve got to tell ya that this iPhone is “calling me”… The rates really don’t seem that much higher than I’m already paying and the internet access was -very- impressive. Anyone actually using one of these things on a daily basis? If I need to respond to emails and and go on some forums, how long could I get away with using an iPhone instead of a computer? No keyboard might make it kind of tough, huh?

I have one and am lovin’ it (and yes, it’s my daily use phone). I will say that I haven’t done any forum posting with it just yet as I think that the typing interface isn’t up to par for typing long messages, but it’s fantastic for short emails, SMS messages and use while web browsing/searching.

And of course it’s a great iPod, note taker, the camera is nice but has no flash so low-light photos aren’t doable.

The Apple people told me that a keyboard will be coming “soon”. Have you heard anything about it? Seems to me to the be one add-on I’d want to make even better use of it. Maybe one of those thin, roll-up or folding keyboards?

In one corner you can see the important things in life and in the other corner there are iPhones and a lot of other stuff.

I haven’t heard of anything like that but must admit I’m not really looking out for it either. I’m just not the type that’s going to use my iPhone for regular long email typing (reading sure, typing no… ). So I’m happy with the phone as is and am blissfully ignorant of coming add-ons. For those that would need one that would be great but it seems to me that it kinda kills the nice compact nature of it being a phone. YMMV on that though…

Ahm, let’s put it this way, in small parts of europe we’re sometimes (mainly between 23.00 and 1.00) still allowed to say what we think and exchange each other this way, we call it a conversation…

Hakuna Matata!

Taumel: I removed my post because you’re right, you can say what you want and express your thoughts, even if I think that they add nothing useful to the conversation and only incite friction and are antagonistic. Have at it!

Edit: by the way, I too am similarly allowed to express my thoughts even if they question the purpose/intent/value of yours. I never said “don’t post” or “don’t say that”.

I have one,

When I’m at work I’m on the road 90 % of the time so I use google map a lot, easy to find place to eat. Yahoo messenger(mobile) maybe a few times a day.

touch keyboard is great, very easy to get used to.

camera is good as long as you have the proper lighting.

Browsing the net with edge is slow sometimes and sometimes it’s acceptable. Most web site I visit loads on the screen properly, zoom in and out.

Email is great, I use .mac and google.

Speaker, I wish it is a little louder when I’m using it as a phone and when listening to music.

would be nice to see flash support.

P.S. sometimes I think it’s a babe magnet.

I can’t see them making an external iPhone keyboard. This is a phone whose entire design is rooted in a refusal to require a stylus. I could see a third party making a keyboard, but Apple? Never.

One of the reasons the iPhone interests me is the AT&T plan that is offered for it includes -unlimited- internet use and starts at $59.95 a month. That’s about $20 more than what I’m already paying each month just for my cell phone, which IMHO is a pretty good deal. I hope to be traveling a fair bit next year and although finding a WIFI hotspot isn’t usually too difficult, it may not be all that secure for conducting business. So the idea of using mobile broadband sounds like a possible solution and, except for the cost of the iPhone and lack of keyboard, the iPhone package seems like the best deal.
