Anyone using 2018? Check your license

I have an issue already filed with support regarding 2018.4.22 defaulting to a “Unity Indie” license state despite being on a Unity Plus subscription. The license is valid and other versions of Unity, including 2017, 2021, etc are showing as being “Unity Pro”.

I just wanted to see if anyone else has 2018 installed and a Plus subscription and could launch it to see if they also lost their dark mode skin, splash screen options, and even some build targets have disappeared for me.

Thanks.

Well, there were a couple reports of licensing issues, particularly for Unity Plus subscribers. They were with different Unity versions though. So I’m assuming that perhaps Unity is updating their backend services, causing infrequent outages or something. Some users also reported having changed their system hardware or upgraded OS, thus somehow invalidating the license.

Try the usual: sign out of your account and back in. Usually within the Hub but generally make sure you’re signed out anywhere you have that account button in the Hub and Editor, before signing back in. You can also try revoking your license, and then re-assign it.

i recently renewed for the final Plus year, and seems to work in 2018.4.30f1 (shows up as Pro).

It’s gotta be their licensing server. The problem is intermittent. Sometimes defaulting to “Unity Indie” and sometimes “Unity Pro”. Really weird.

Thought I resolved it by doing this:

  • Updated Hub to 3.6.1 (released today?)

  • Restarted Hub

  • All licenses were gone from Hub

  • Re-added license

  • Closed all open Unity editors

  • Restarted Hub again (this time it asked for firewall clearance)

  • Restarted Unity

All versions of Unity say I’m on “Unity Pro” now, including 2018.4.x

Then I closed 2018. Reopened it. Nope, back to Unity Indie. :eyes:
