Are there any assets that you feel like are missing or should be better in the asset store?
I am looking for a small project, and so i thought, what would be better than asking what the community wants.
That is how i decided to create this post to find out.
I know some programming but my forte is modelling and texturing.
So if there is anything that you want, or you want to see improved, just leave a comment below
and i will do my best.
realistic medieval balista/trebuchet? it cannot be finding in asset store ^^
or game ready tower for rts game ? (like elven tower in w3 or other races but better graphic for actual computer generation) - i found only some project in asset store
Nice! Do you have any reference images i can use? I will try to do both as fast as possible, but i can only work every now and then because of work. I will keep you updated though:)
Oh and one last thing, the style, should it be as realistic as possible or just a more realistic interpretation of the previous designes?
I really liked the elven tower, so i’ll start by making one of those. When you say functional, do you want the entire top part of the tower to be unlocked, or just the cannons? (This is for the sake of aiming and fireing at moving enemies)
I would personally like 3d-models for a tower defense game as well, but I would want it to look more like terran from starcraft 2. With a whole bunch of differnet turrets that we could have like 3 different upgrades for each tower each one having a different color, willing to pay 125 dollars for a set.
Woah! Really good suggestions coming in, i am going to try my best. I also liked the 3 different upgrades idea, so needless to say, i got some work cutout for me First the WC3 inspired and Siege, then SC2 XD

Okay so i’ve had some progress on the WC3 turret, but i am unsure of how high the polycount can be… are we talking a couple of hundred or as much as 1000 each turret? I will still post a “current progress” screenshot later tonight, that way you can give me feedback on what is good, and what i should remove or change
well first of all i think you should definitely make generic items, if it gets too specific it might not end up in any project.
the WC3 art style is pretty good for anything stylized and medieval/fantasy themed. So that should work. Secondly i think you could easily create the asset in 3 Level of Detail models, one that could be used on PC/consol and be somewhat more upclose read, one that works for Browsergames or tablets and one for mobile games.
If you do it right you could normalmap the highest resolution and bake all the info down to the lower LODs increasing the worth of your asset quite a bit so it applis for many productions.
Okay so this is the first draft of a “cannon” turret based of the wc3 one, keep in mind this is without textures and normal map, thus making it alot more plain than the finished product. Any ideas of what i can add to the model as fine detail before i start making the texture and normal map?
Finally finished the second draft, not too happy with it, seems abit dull, and i am having problems with the normal maps. However, i am happy to have got so “far” I am thinking about redoing the entire texture, just more simplistic, this way i can add more color and contrast, which makes it alot more fun to play around with.
