Hi
Don’t know what happened. I was in the editor right clicked on a blend file i wanted to delete. But no option menu popped up after minutes of waiting so i closed with taskmanager. Then restarted .
A popup appeared something about a file not opening so i clicked try again next thing i knew 20 gigs of harddrive was instantly freed up and the asset folder was completely deleted except for one folder that was empty.
Whats more i had a bunch of files just sitting in the main folder outside of the the assets folder but they were also all deleted???.But the library seems intact(8gig) really worried what else might have been deleted (20 gigs seems a lot to lose with only a 8 gig library)seen as this delete ran wide even outside the asset folder I don’t even know how that happens??
So tried some recovery programmes but only got 1 gig of unuasable stuff back .
Is there anything that can be recovered from the library?
The Library is just a cache of the imported objects. There might be something in there, but I doubt you can retrieve anything from it, most things reference the original assets.
Can’t you discard / revert your changes in source control?
I don’t want to be ‘that guy’, but you really should be using source control, or at least backing up projects.
If you don’t, it’s your own fault really.
NO no its not my own fault its unity or windows fault or both still not sure which is the main culprit. I did not tell either to delete anything. Still confused as to how this even happened it didn’t just delete in the folder but outside it too? How? its surreal. And those 20 gigs were gone in a instant they just vanished it would take minutes usually for me to delete that much info but all of a sudden presto gone in a flash.
