Hi, folks. I’ve hit a wall in App Store Connect regarding screenshots. I’m considering buying a refurbished iPhone X just to take 6.5" screenshots. (The Xcode simulator is too slow, and I could use it as my everyday phone.) My question is, can I buy the base model and upscale the screenshots, or do I have to buy an XS Max? The basic iPhone X has a lower resolution but the same aspect ratio. By the same token, is it acceptable that I took 5.5" screenshots on my 6s and upscaled those? It’s hard to tell what Apple is going to be picky about, and I’m hesitant to ask them directly.
try some asset store plugin for that, not sure if it was this one, but one of them creates all sizes automatically.
i’ve even manually resized and cropped those store images from editor screenshots,
doesn’t look nice in store, but that was in a rush…(and passed review)
I’ll take a hard look at that, thanks! Also happy to hear cropped editor pics passed review.
Unity has also made a package called Unity Recorder which can take screenshot and videos right from the editor.
Gotcha, thanks. I might use that in the future, although for now I’ve ordered a refurbished iPhone XR. I want to make sure my UI responds appropriately to touch controls, rather than having to fake input on PC. I plan on doing plenty of other mobile games, so it’ll be a bonus to have a testing device representative of what most people are using now.
Whelp, glad I went with the refurbished XR. The notch hides my menu button, so players wouldn’t be able to pause or open any menus. That notch and the home bar are incredibly annoying. I wonder how many other apps they’ve broken.
I got the iPhone 13 Pro recently for testing, and was absolutely gob-smacked that someone at Apple thought it was a good ‘design’ decision to put that notch on the left of the screen and add that annoying white bar on the bottom. Now I have to update my game’s UI just for the iPhone!
Also all the different aspect ratio requirements for app store submission are annoying, and also means I’ll need to capture footage and produce 3 different trailers for the 3 different aspect ratios they require.
I know I can ‘crop’ stuff but still, it’s a lot of work.
