Apple Design Awards

I was reading the Apple Design Awards rules (deadine is April 23, by the way), and I was wondering if anyone here knows if the following rule poses a problem for Unity-based submissions:

Unity’s Java, right? So there shouldn’t be any problems I think.

Hmm… No good news for you here, if I’m interpreting that correctly. Unity itself is a nice native Mac OS app, but I don’t think the games created significantly use a single item on that list.

You can’t use Java in the Unity scripts, it’s JavaScript. Completely different. C# is DISTINCTLY not an Apple tech, either. Plus, really, what you are using as a tool is Unity itself. Also, not on the list.

Apple wants to award people who are directly using their tech, I guess.

Any other opinions on this? Maybe this isn’t a strictly held rule? Maybe just the fact that the game probably uses Cocoa at some level counts even though the programmer doesn’t touch a bit of Cocoa makes it count?

my gut feeling too, arron, but not in the know… either way, otee better get some props

Dashboard widgets are a good candidate, to gain some points on the used technology. Also we use Cocoa, OpenGL and OpenAL.

While all the technology that you use counts, what is more important is how well you use it. Present your content in a perfect slick apple style, thats what really matters.

And make obvious use of technology that’s Apple only.

If nothing else, don’t release the Windows version until after they announce the awards
