Apple review process

Hey all,

If Apple flags something you have to fix and re-submit, does that reset the length of time it takes to get approved??

Thanks,

Galen

It depends, but about the same time as your original submission period. I think its moe to do with their being busy than anything else.

They seem to just put everything through on a line.

IPete2.

Hmm, they rejected me in like 4 days (late on a Friday), I turned around the change by Sunday and had it back in their hands late early (very, very early) Monday morning.

Perhaps they try and slide one past me on my way home from work (like last time  )

Are they strickly working standard hours California time (so I don’t waste my time checking in their off hours)?

Thanks,

Galen

The iPhone app approval seems to be made in different stages.

First they check your description in the iTune Connect web interface. If something is wrong here, they stop and ask you to change (it happened to me when I specified the price of the promotion in the description in $ for example)
They seems to do this check quickly! In the next couple of days after your submission. In that case they do not reject your binary.

Then they check the application itself. They check if there are any copyrights issues, if there are incorrect sentences, if you connect to an external website and warn the customers etc…
They seems to do it in the first 10 days or so.
They reject your binary and you need to resent a new file with the fixes and you start back at the end of the queue.

Then they check the application for compatibility on different OS version and iPhones.
This seems to be a long process. Waiting for more than 2 weeks now and no signs from them.

Actually they don’t…they only take action with copyrighted material if the rights holder complains. There’s enormous amount of copyright-violating content on the app store.

Well they check if their copyrights are infringed. Not others.
In my case I was using an Icon that was too similar to the Settings icon in the iPhone (but not the same) and my application got rejected!

Btw 3D Fish Tank has been approved today, it took 26 days total with 2 rejections…

I just submitted my game today
the only thing is
I currently don’t have a website
so the information for
support website and support email isn’t really correct

I wonder if they will reject me for not currently having a website

I could get a domain and set it up by tomorrow
but

I just don’t want to be bothered with it…

any ideas…

I did not publis any game yet, but set up a website is very easy, create a web an register a domain, put your contact data and some picture about the game, relate some email to it and you will have no problems i think.

It’s all 50$ per year…cheap

Cheers.

We got rejected after being in “waiting for review” for 12 days. We received an e-mail stating that the app is “in review” and an hour later we received another e-mail stating it has been rejected.

The rejection reason was not complying with the interface guidelines (mark 10.1) - we have a “Quit button” in our app.
I just hope that they reviewed the whole app rather than just rejecting immediately upon seeing the quit button.

Another interesting thing is, when we created the app record on itunes connect, we set the availability date to July 30, exactly the day when we received the rejection. Maybe it’s accidental.

You could set up a free website very easily. I’ve used Weebly. This referral link will give you one month of the Pro upgrade for free (I also get a month free if you use it, just use http://www.weebly.com if you don’t want the referral link): http://www.weebly.com/link/amKTdQ

This is a cool site for estimating the average review times:
