Application Icon

I just preferred the previous Unity icon for 0.15.0 compared to the new one for 0.16.0. Looked a lot cooler on my taskbars.

Also preferred the old icon.

Thirded

Totally agree … this new logo is hideous!
Please change it back!

Likewise, I agree the old one was better

I think the new one is really cool! The old one was just temporary, and you could totally see it! (it was just the logo, inverted)

Came here to report the new one as a bug. The white background and tiny logo looks like something from the 90s.

That’s why people (Including myself) prefer it more, because it’s simple. (And looks modern)

Simplicity is the key to brilliance. ~ Bruce Lee

To me it’s the current one that now looks temporary; solid harsh background, sizing is off. It just really stands out among all the other icons on my taskbar on windows and mac, and not in a good way. Just looks like it doesn’t belong. But that’s just my personal view and feedback. For me the current icon just looks really bad and I really loved the other one, even discussed with colleagues how much we liked it when it was first introduced and were happy to have that be our “main” pinned Unity icon on taskbar.

Yup, the new one looks real bad, both on the taskbar and as a desktop icon. My initial thought on seeing it was that you’d made a mistake, and lost the alpha channel on the icon file.

The old icon also looked good next to a normal Unity icon. It was different, but still had the same shape and feel. On the other hand, you have this:

Just looks like somebody messed up when exporting the icon file.

Also going to second it looking completely off next to all other programs:

Spot the odd one out!

Oh, and the task bar:

Note that all of the other icons blend into the black background nicely, except the Hub and SmartGit which both are eyesores with their own white background.

EDIT: Also lololol bikeshedding

yet another vote for reverting  The old one was very clear what it was - the new one just looks out of place. It’s the only app that has it’s own background on my macos dock…

Thank you all for your feedbacks, we heard you. The previous icon was in conflict with Unity Branding, we had to replace it and we can not revert back. Good news is that we are currently working on a new icon for the Hub.

Not sure if this is a bug or what but looks awful in the icon tray IMHO

(Almost) 6 Months passed and the icon is still the same, any news?

I’d like to vote to keep the white logo in the hub. This way we can easily differentiate between the Hub and other unity-related stuff (editors, etc)
