How long, in general between app submission and assuming it is cleared, until it can be seen in the store?
According to Apple, 98% of new apps are reviewed within 5 business days. This site also has some more stats according to developers who tweeted with the hash tag #iosreviewtime
148apps.biz has an average wait time buried there too. It’s usually a week for most people and has always been that way as apple try to kinda keep within that time frame. It’s random during holiday seasons. Sometimes it’s faster or slower at peak times. They probably add more staff or something.

this is the best site ever. It helps remove any anxiety you have about what the wait times are. Devs tweet what their wait times are and he charts a running average!

That data looks like approval time for new release. Is there any data on updates times?
Why would it be any different?
In my experience, updates take just as long as initial releases. One time I had a a critical bug fix right after an initial release, I submitted an expedited review request and it was approved, they said it was a one time good deal and to never ask again!! LOL it was reviewed the next day. I guess you get a one time silver bullet to ask for an expedited update review.
I’ve heard you get one a year, but that might not be true. Them internets be full of lies.

I’ve only released 1 game, but the initial release took about a week untill they started reviewing it, which lasted 8 hours or so.
The next update took 4 days (and only 5 minutes review time).
And yes, the update was pretty big.
I’ve noticed that the time spent in review varies widely. I’ve had apps approved the same minute that they switched from waiting for review to in review. Other apps have taken many hours.
Just had a game approved today - 6 days waiting for review, 2 hours in review.
