Hello,
does anyone know when Unity 4.3 and therefore the Unity Native 2D Tools get released to the public?
I need those 2D tools really urgent…

there are plenty of 2d plugins like 2D Toolkit, NGui, etc
Is there not a more specific release period than fall, which the dev mentioned in the blog post ? 
That’s not how things work anymore. There is no date because they don’t have one. Release dates are a thing of the past when games, etc just couldn’t be dropped onto the internet whenever they are done. They won’t know the release date until the day the release it. I’m sure they have some sort of schedule they attempt to follow, but as anyone who’s ever worked on a major project can tell you, they are probably way behind schedule.
It will be released tomorrow (with an error margin of +1 year).

All depends from 4.3 beta users, how many bugs they reported, i hope before end of this year.
I just asked via eMail, and the answer was approx. 2 month from now. No clue, though, what confidence level such an answer has … probably rather on a very safe side, and I would expect it earlier than that. On Twitter they stated we should stay tuned for news on 4.3 after closing the beta. I wouldn’t expect a major information now another month away, then telling us it will be released one month from then on. That would be pretty boring…

I’m excited for a particular feature coming out with 4.3 as well. Although, as I learned on the World of Warcraft forums, anything even remotely mentioning an upcoming patch and a timeframe would result in the term “soon” being offered up about 100% of the time. That’s not to say that I don’t want to say “thank you captain obvious” to everyone who says that lol.
But yes, I’m looking forward to some of the new tech coming up.
Hoping the new GUI system will be usable from the first release and if in terms of performances will be equal to NGUI/NZGUI (even if is developed by the developer of NGUI) and if it will include a way to manage different aspect-ratios/resolutions/retina.
Didn’t Unity say that the GUI system was sure to come in the 4.x but not necessarily 4.3? Though I’m sure they’re trying to.

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure we were told similar about 3.x as well.
IIRC they said at Unite Vancouver that the new GUI will not be in 4.3.
Indeed, there’s been no indication that it will be in 4.3. They’ve already talked about stuff that’s in it, such as a new 2D system (which is not the new GUI system).
