AR Remoting Alpha - User Studies

AR Remoting (Alpha)
We've received great interest in early access of Unity’s AR Remoting feature, and we're excited to share that we’re now conducting a user research study to help evaluate and improve the feature. The study will be conducted via Zoom between May 18 - 29, and should take about an hour to complete. During the study, we’ll ask you to share your screen and talk through the tasks provided. If you’re interested in participating, let us know by filling out this form (we need a few more details to ensure you have a compatible device), and we’ll follow up if you have been selected. If you are selected, you will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement before accessing the Unity AR Remoting feature.

State of the Feature
The feature currently supports the following functionality:

  • Connect to a remote device from the editor
  • Test AR Foundation supported features (planes, raycast, reference points, etc.) on-device without having to build your app

In developing the feature, we have re-factored our XR plug-in framework and leveraged some new technologies that are foundational to Unity's networking stack. Both were done to maximize performance of the feature, and will require Unity 2020.2 and later as a result.
