Aranyus - A Journey Begins (Open word RPG)

  • I have made an error in the title and seems I can edit. It’s " Open World RPG" . Sorry :frowning:

Please keep in mind that the game is in a (very) pre-alpha version.
I’ve been working at this game in my free time using Unity Free.

The Facebook page : Redirecting...

Anyway, I hope you like my work.

Here is the trailer:

Here is something about this game…

"Another boring day at the office. On the road, headed back home. His watch reads 11:14 PM. Looks like he’ll arrive home earlier tonight. But something strange fills the air around him, he feels a cold shiver, and his newly repaired headlight seems to be malfunctioning. Out of nowhere a thick fog appears. He can no longer see his bike. He knows he must stop, but… Suddenly he hits something, and his body is thrown from the bike. The next thing he feels is the rough kiss of the hard ground. His eyes open again, but the sun seems too bright. He struggles and manages to stand up. Beside him lays his bike, rusting and half-buried in the sand. Around him, the ocean and the beach make him wonder if he’s still alive. Where is he? What is this place?! "

My goal with Aranyus series is to revive the feelings that we all found in some old school RPG, especially open world game, my favorites. The best example I can give is Gothic which is, in my opinion, the best game ever created. Aranyus is a game born from an idea that I have for some years. Aranyus - A Journey Begins will be the first one from the Aranyus series which will contain three games.

The story takes place on Aranyus in an medieval fantasy era, an island divided by various races and cultures which exists in a parallel universe where the laws of nature are far more different from what we know. On Aranyus magic almost rule the entire land and even peoples life, everything has evolved in various ways, some things may looks familiar while others will look completely strange.

After the accident the biker wakes up on a beach without knowing for sure if it’s dead or alive, is in a dream or a different reality. From now on he must discover what happens with him, what is that place and maybe most important he must learn to survive in this new place called Aranyus. Along his journey the biker will find that not everything it’s different, things like crimes, corruption and betrayal exist there too. In this land your abilities will be tested each step, from surviving in battles or get over cold nights to decisions about who are the people you can trust.

In the first part of the game, hero will have time to discover a small part of Aranyus and how life flow here. Soon, our hero will discover that “the calm before the storm” is a real expression when something that appear like random attacks and crimes become more and more the contour of a bigger plan. Who’s behind this, what is the goal ? It’s some old enemy or is a new enemy, completely unknown ? Lot’s of questions who need to be answered, Aranyus fate may be in your hands.

The main character must complete quests, both main and secondary, defeat enemies and slay wild animals and monsters to earn experience and skill points, which will increase basic attributes and skills.

In Aranyus the interaction between player and environment will help you to survive. From animals and monsters you can get various products which can be used for food or healing, as example, or can be sold to merchants for money. Another example is that the player must start a fire to not freeze over night. For short, you will have to do what you should do in real life.

The game will adapt itself based on your stats, so you’ll never be too strong or too weak. Aranyus will challenge you from the beginning to the very end.

In Aranyus you can find a day and night cycle with dynamic weather . This will add a drop of realism and also completely change the mood, in day time you may be confident on your strengths but after midnight the fear may get you in her claws.

I love the work you’ve done so far. Also, if this is inspired by Gothic series… holly molly!

Good luck man!

Thanks a lot,
primus88. And yes, it’s Gothic inspired

I love everything I see and hear, except the name. Is it pronounced R-anus?

It’s AranYus. Maybe I should change it to Aranyum. I didn’t think that so many people think about that. Anyway, thank you for your comment.

No problem, and I think in a perfect world where everyone acts like and adult the name would be fine. However we live in a world where many people (including myself sometimes) act like a 12 year old. Its kinda like when you learned the planets in science class as a child, you know someone has to say “I see Uranus”…

Also upon further reflection, I want to upgrade my statement about liking what I see, to loving what I see. this game looks amazing!

Thank you a lot, ctrlaltdelete63.
I guess your right about the name, could be some “kids” around , will see how this goes. About the game, what you say it’s really help me, I work alone on this game and to see that people like what I did … well, it’s just great and motivates me.
Thank you again.

Well I hope you stay motivated, because I would like to play this game. I will even see about making a Kickstarter account so I can donate to your cause
