Hi Everyone
I am an architectural visualiser and I have been interested in creaing user controllable flythroughs, 360 spin arounds etc. I have absolutely no knowledge of scripting and find it a little scary to be honest.
I saw the demo for room of shadows and it is a perfect example of what I would like to achieve in terms of camera navigation and scene interaction. Is this possible to pick up for a complete novice like me with Unity and without too much of a headache produce something akin to room of shadows? Are there any specific Unity Architectural Walkthrough tutorials anywhere on the web? Any advice on where I should look or start investigating the scripting needed for Unity will be greatly appreciated. I know I probably have a steep learning curve ahead of me but it I really want to learn Unity.
Hey iainzepp, welcome to the forums
You should be able to put together a simple visualisation like Room of Shadows without any scripting, just by dropping a camera into the scene and placing all your meshes and lights. Check out the documentation, forums and the community wiki for anything you’re not sure about, and you should be fine.
If you’re after a more complete solution, you should check out http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/122849-REALIS3D-A-brand-new-Architectural-Visualisation-Presentation-Tool?highlight=realis3d and see if it’s what you’re looking for (I’m one of the developers, btw, so please forgive the plug
Good luck!
Hi aDFP, thank you for the advice. I have been watching some videos on Digital Tutors and beginning to work my way through all the info availabel. It is all very exciting I have to say.
No worries about the plug, that looks like some really interesting and versatile software you are developing. I will be keeping my eye on it closely now you have pointed me in it’s direction. You are sitting on a very forward thinking approach.
