Are there any animated models in the store that are appropriate for a fighting game?

I’m a programmer for a video game company. In my spare time, I like to make indie games with Unity. My latest project is a fighting game. Right now, I have a simple game where you can run, jump, crouch, punch, kick, throw fireballs, knock out your opponent - simple fighting game stuff.

Right now, I’m using this model from the Unity asset store: http://u3d.as/content/the-jamk/girl-fighter/2w5 It’s adequate, but I really need more animations. Uppercuts, hadoukens, spinning kicks, etc. I can’t seem to find any models on the Unity asset store that have animations appropriate for a fighting game. There are a handful of models that have punches or kicks, but I’m looking for some totally extreme animations of characters performing a wife variety of brutal attacks and shooting fireballs out of their hands.

I’m hesitant to post a job offer in the Commercial Work forum, because this is just a personal project for fun, and I don’t want to drop tons of cash on a game prototype that I’m just doing as an exercise. However, I really can’t make a fun game - not even a fun prototype - without tons of fighting game animations.

Are there any animated models in the Unity asset store that have lots of animations that are appropriate for a fighting game?

You can use any humanoid model, and retarget the animations using mecanim. You can buy animations from mixamo, or from truebones, and mr. Necturus has some great ones too.

I know all about Mixamo,Truebones, and Necturus - but I haven’t been able to find any animations from them that suit my needs. They don’t seem to offer any flying hurricane kicks, jump-ten-feet-in-the-air uppercuts, or animations that look as though the character is channeling his spirit energy into a fireball.

Are there any good resources for those kinds of animations, specifically?

I don’t think you’ll ever find 100% of the animations you need. Your best bet is to buck down, find the characters you feel would suit your game and get busy animating.

I know it sounds like a lot of work but that’s what Developing Games is!
