Are there indie games made with Unity Plus (Has to be with kickstarters).

I’m wondering if it’s impossible to make an indie game with Unity Plus by using kickstarters.

no - not impossible.
Good luck!

Why would it be?

…Why does it have to be Unity Plus specifically?

I think it would be harder to name an indie game not made with Unity.

Once you get Unity plus you’re not allowed to receive any funding what so ever, doing so will terminate your license.

As an indie developer no one has heard of, you have to make your game first, then after you have a decent following you use Kickstarter to fund your next project. Until then, only your mother is likely to give you any money.

I have a good mother and she prefers only borrowing me money.

Oh I think I get it now. A kickstarter - in hopes of securing more than 100k - which would push the developer over the Plus limit.
See drewradley’s post on how likely this is to happen.
However if this unlikely result happens - the developer would be required to purchase Pro seats for full timers - unless I’m mistaken.

Unity Plus supports up to $200k.

So does that mean it’s only possible with Unity pro?

No.
It means that if you have a successful Kickstarter campaign, that gets you over 100k, you will need to upgrade to at least Plus. If you have a successful Kickstarter campaign that is over 200k, you will need to upgrade to Pro. But only after, and if you actually get those funds. You can start your project with any version.

It should be noted that +100k plus is a lofty goal. About 33% of all games successfully funded. Of that only 7% are over 100k. (or about 2% of total) And those are typically pretty big games, created by known developers. So, probably not critical to worry about it at this point.

I do wonder, though, how many of the games asking for less than that are asking for enough.

Probably depends largely upon how many are still living with parents.

Thanks for the correction @cyberpunk I admit that number is hard for me to grasp since the original offering for 5.0 of free until 100k or above was imo a generous offer.

Really depends on what other funding you have available. Kickstarter only represents pre sales, it’s considerably smaller then the number of people who will buy a finished game.

So if you have some other funding source, you can make viable games using Kickstarter as a boost.
