ARKit plugin support for ARKit1.5?

With wonderful new features like vertical plane detection on ARKit1.5, when does Unity support ARKit 1.5?

Congratulations on your first post

You should subscribe to the repo in order to get notified when some news are out : https://bitbucket.org/Unity-Technologies/unity-arkit-plugin/.

The question/issue has already been asked there (It’s the best place to ask it after all, that’s where the project is!) : https://bitbucket.org/Unity-Technologies/unity-arkit-plugin/issues/3/arkit-15-beta-support. If you want to contribute, that is the best place to start.

AFAIK, iOS 11.3 is still in beta so ARKit 1.5 is in the same situation. I wouldn’t expect any big/official changes until the release is out, this spring.

He’s asking a valid question. The original plugin was released immediately when the original ARKit beta was released last year. It’s been nearly a month and there’s no official word from Unity regarding the state of the plugin. They’ve stopped posting in that forum thread, and have stopped updating the Bitbucket. So for all intents and purposes, support for the plugin appears to be dead.

Wasn’t that a valid answer? I don’t know about all those intents and purposes, but I do know that “nearly a month” is pretty short to declare a plugin officially dead
As someone said :

The thread in particular https://discussions.unity.com/t/666887 is alive and well, with some questions asked and answered daily…

And the bitbucket repo https://bitbucket.org/Unity-Technologies/unity-arkit-plugin/commits/all?page=1 has been updated for every official ARKit update and still has some open pull requests.

Wow! Fake news on the Unity forums has come a long way. Before we write an obituary for the Unity ARKit Plugin, let me assure you that “rumors of its death have been greatly exaggerated!”

Sorry there has not been much communication, but we’re working on an update to Unity ARKit Plugin for ARKit’s 1.5 spring update. It should be out shortly as a branch on BitBucket, and eventually merged into the default when the update is actually live.
