Artist help!

Hello!

I am looking for a program for texture creation. I have Photoshop, but it is too complicated for a beginner. So I am looking for an easier way to create textures, or a resource for photoshop.
I have found many sites and books abouth photoshop, but they where abouth picture manipulation, and not texture creation. So if you know a book, tutorial, site abouth game texture creation, I would welcome it.

Thanks!

Hi Dreeka,

I have a few possible ideas for you. Hope they help.

Textures for 3D, graphic design and Photoshop! - If you are looking for just some quick photos / textures to use. (Free)

http://www.pixplant.com/ - This app is great for creating quick, seamless textures (diffuse, spec, normal, ao) (Free demo)

http://www.walkerboystudio.com/html/game_development_training.html - The 2D section will take you through everything you were asking about. (Costs money, but worth it. )

Let me know if you have further questions. Thank you.

I think it will help me much, thank you

Update:
The video training sounds really good, hovewer, I don’t have that much money :frowning:

So is there any other resource for Photoshop?

Sumo Paint is good: Paint

actually If your a unity user, I suggest you try to outsource your texture needs, I was building my very first game in unity for the past month, it took over 3000 lines of code and tons of hours and work, and let me tell you this, if i drew everything i needed it would’ve costed me more time and effort than it already did >< i did draw some of the textures, but i bought all the others

as i am on a tight budget, i cant really afford fancy stuff, so i recommend turbosquid, has tons of 3d models and textures.

you need to focus your energy on programming and unity in my opinion and buy or find a free source for whatever else u need.

My budget is also low (20-30 dollar per month). Currently, I am working on a game that doesn’t require many textures, but still fun to play. I have found a book (100% Photoshop: Create stunning artwork without using any photographs) which may help me.

Now I am browsing Turbosquid, hopefully I will find something good for my game.

Thanks for the replies!
If someone else has any other information which can help me, please post it
