Just a heads-up. ArtRage 2.5 has been released and one of it’s “technical” features is that is can export your image out to it’s component parts… including bump map. So I wondered if I could bring them into Unity and convert to normal maps. It works very well.
Forgive the fuglies… but this is a 2 min test! Basically I just used the oil paint, some stencils and the palette knife. Will do a better test this weekend. Be good for quickly adding mud and grime to one’s colour maps, without using your 3d renderer.
ArtRage rocks. I’ve owned it since version 1 and there is no better FAST natural media program around anywhere. It’s a brilliant piece of software … among that handful of groundbreaking and fun programs (Unity, ArtRage, Sketchup, etc).
Really? Ohh i’m sorry if i mixed that up then. I just had to think about a dozen of other great looking apps from french developers which sadly either never made it’s way into a final product or were discontinued shortly after they were introduced. Latest victim i witnessed was Hexus - now don’t tell me this one was lithuanian too! :O)
