As for a 2D Tower Defense game, like Bloons TD Series, is it possible the towers count as sprites?

Hello, I wanted to make a fan-made game call Bloons TD Crossover, It’ll be amazing, but I’m not sure if i can draw/animate (animated sprites would be better than just drawn) and count them as the “2D Sprites” or customly named Tower Sprites. I mean, I don’t know how to develop a TD game as it’s my first time.

I would appreciate that you guys could tell me tips & tricks or help me on the game development as I wanted to make a game.

Make the most basic human games ever:

  • Tic Tac Toe
  • Checkers
  • Backgammon
  • Blackjack
  • Flappy bird

This will definitely help you understand how to make games and approach them.
Then, follow a tower defense game tutorial on youtube and using your previous knowledge, customize.

Cheers!

Thank you so much! I hope you’ll like my games once I finished it!

hows your work going?

There are lots of good 2D Tower Defense tutorials out there, as well as frameworks/kits on the asset store. There are also CC0 (public domain) sprites/sprite-sheets out there for having animated towers, etc. If nothing else, looking at these can help you get an idea how to create the parts for a TD game. Good luck!

Having the word “Bloons” in your title for a tower defense game is liable to get you into intellectual property issues with whomever owns that name unless you have permission from them to use it.
