Asset Bundle w/o download

It seems asset bundles are the only game in town when it comes to async loading.

But, is there a way to include the asset bundle with the game instead of needing to download it? I’m particularly interested in Ouya here, but any platform details are a good start.

You might be able to hack asset bundles into your game by using the StreamingAssets folder. Can’t say I’ve tried it myself though, but it looks like a reasonable way to go.

To download asset bundles from a remote server, you typically use the WWW class.

Instead of providing a remote URL, you can also provide a local file system URL, e.g. “file://path-to-asset-bundle”.

As Tarlius already mentioned, you would also put the asset bundles in the StreamingAssets folder.
