I’m not sure what forum this goes in, but I am wondering if anyone who is doing tree/grass asset packs could put together a crops pack to use in “realistic” 3D games? I’ve been looking around the Asset Store and I have been unable to find any assets for crops. I’m looking for things like grapes (for vineyards), wheat, tomatoes, rice, peach trees, pineapples, dirt for tilled soil, etc. I have been trying to make some farm areas in my game and haven’t been able to find anything.
I was able to find some “cartoon” crops, and I saw some wheat that was from SpeedTree (but it’s a little expensive). Needless to say there just aren’t many options for something like this and I’m hoping that someone will be kind enough to fill the gap.
Yeah. I saw those, but they’re pretty expensive for just one pack and I’m not sure about the performance since Speedtree trees in my project really are resource heavy. Having a whole field of them might not be so good. I’m hoping someone comes up with a good selection that isn’t so taxing as far as performance goes.
I have a couple of packs living in my wishlist to take a look at later. There is an environment pack that had grapes but I can’t recall offhand which one it was. It would have been a medieval type pack since that is the game environment I’m planning for my game, if I can ever get back to working on it.
Here are the packs I have flagged in my wishlist:
76 Plants Bundle - has corn, onion, wheat, potato, and some other wildflower/weed type plants for $5
Vegetable Plants by Dexsoft - has 20 vegetable plant models (54 including all lod stages). Not impressed with the corn, but the other veggies look usable, at least for my planned uses. $15 at time of this reply.
Garden Vegetables Pack 2 by Dexsoft - has 23 plant models (67 including all lod stages). This pack has some nice looking strawberries, pumpkins, peppers, squash and melons from a quick glance at the AS pics. Pack is $20 at time of this reply.
Like I said, I don’t own them yet, but they are all living in my wishlist for future addition to my toolbox. Would love to get some feedback on them if anyone has any.
Please share whatever packs you end up finding and going with @EDarkness_1 !
Thanks for the info, Shawn67. I hadn’t seen the 76 Plants Bundle before, so I might give that one a try. Not sure if it’s the lighting or what, but it really has this washed out look in the screenshots. I think the Dexsoft stuff could be okay, but their stuff is always hit and miss. Not sure I want to throw $15 down on it and I’m not sure how it’ll look in my game. I’ll post again once I try a few things out. Can’t believe I missed those packs on the store.
