Asset selection window empty

I don’t understand this “design decision”, when you want to reference something from your project assets to any of your scene game objects or some scriptable objects fields, the only way to do it is to searching it directly on your project window and dropping it in the desired object field, why can’t I see the objects in the asset selection window if I can drop the object there anyway? For example you want to reference a prefab on your assets, then you just go ahead and create a Transform or GameObject in you class, then drop it in the object field that appears on your class inspector right? But why can’t I click on the small circle and search it on the asset selection window, why it appears empty:

I can only search through my assets if they are textures, audios, meshes and etc. If they have a transform, a prefab, I can’t. Does any unity dev care to explain why is this?

Bump!

Yes bump.
