Hi all,
I’m trying to set up the asset server for my team’s project so that we can host it on our Assembla page, but I keep getting an error:
“Could not log in to http
could not translate host name ‘http’ to address: Unknown server
error”
Does this mean that the Asset Server doesn’t work with externally hosted servers? Or possibly that the port 10733 could be closed on our network? I don’t have network admin access so I can’t open it
having it on external servers is no problem, was on different teams in the past that had it on various dedicated and vdedicated hosting services with linux for example.
But whats granted is that the url will never be http, cause it does not use the http protocol.
so enter the url to your server as it is, not some url to the webpage behind the domain and alike.
Well, that’s the problem. Assembla actually gave me an http address to plug into whatever I was using. I tried replacing the http:// with svn://, but that didn’t really work. In the end I actually used the external version control system and that worked, but I was really hoping to be able to use the Asset Server itself. If anyone knows a way to hook up Unity and Assembla, please let me know!!
I just checked out assembla and it will never work.
You must be on a machine you can install applications so a dedicated or virtual dedicated machine.
Repository hosters and stuff like this will not work with the asset server as the asset server does not use any 3rd party VCS stuff, it uses an own proprietary system you must install and run on the server (the asset server)
