Asset Server is not syncing with other members

Hi,

I would like some help with the asset server. We have two members working on the same project. One person created a GUI texture and the other person changed and added stuff to the model of the level. They both committed to the asset server with no server issues.

The problem now is that, the model of the level is not updated on the other pc. The mesh is inside the project but it’s not in the scene/hierarchy. I thought whatever changes made/commited should appear exactly the same ie updates models, position?

Hope someone can help

Thank you.

it will appear all in the same position etc. but only if you two didn’t modify the same prefab / scene because they will override each other and kill the changes of the second user as he will need to update and then lose his

Hi dreamora,

Thanks again. It’s fine now, apparently one of team members didn’t save first before committing :stuck_out_tongue:

Gutted, my team members are having more problems with the asset server. More or less the same issue; two members were working on the same project and adding/changing the components to the same model in the same scene. One added a mesh collider to a model and the other added an object to the same model in the scene. Both of them saved the file but one of them managed to commit it first. Now the other person can’t commit since he needs to update it first. Tried to update with the conflict resolve window open and merging it but it doesn’t do anything. So how do we sync everything together?

Thanks.

Does the Asset Server have a ‘Lock for Edit’ or similar? It’s common to lock files you are working on to prevent this sort of loss. That way you know who’s working on it and can either wait, or talk to the other member about how to resolve it.

your members need to learn basic planning I fear.
what they do will kill their whole work etc.

There is no branching, no locking, no merging, so either you plan and communicate appropriately or you will learn it the “brick wall in front of head” way
