asset server license disabled upon iPhone pro install

Hi,

I have a Unity Pro (2.61) with Asset server client license running on my Mac. I recently bought an iPhone pro license. When I installed the iPhone client (1.7) and license, the asset server client license on the main Unity app was ‘wiped out’…so I can no longer connect to the asset server or any of my projects!

Can you help me reactivate the asset server license?

Thanks,

Brian Nelson

you must have done something seriously wrong, like not specifying your previous pro + asset server license. because iphone and asset server are addon licenses to a base unity license (in this case to unity pro) and as such would result in a new license key covering all 3.

naturally, if you upgraded to u3 pro + iphone 3 pro and forgot to upgrade the asset server client license, then the problem is that you just no longer own it with u3

I haven’t upgraded to u3 yet. I’ve been running unity pro with asset server for about a year without trouble. The only change I made was to install iPhone pro, register and activate it. After that…poof. My license type in the ‘main’ unity now shows up as Unity Pro, IPhone advanced…but has dropped the Asset Server piece.

My team has 5 iPhone pro licenses that we can’t install for fear of losing access to our asset server.

well did you upgrade your unity pro + asset server license with iphone pro? otherwise you have now 2 distinct licenses and as such can not use features from one license on the other license (the asset server addon is bound to its unity pro base as the iphone pro license is bound to its own distinct unity pro base license).

you can not have 2+ licenses on a system.

you might want to drop the support a mail on the matter to see if they in such a case could unhook the iphone pro from your second unity pro license and hook it up on the asset server + pro license instead leaving you with an asset server + pro + iphone pro license and a “barebone” pro only license

I think that explains it. I looked back through the emails between my university’s purchasing office and Unity, and I think they misunderstood and ordered iPhone Pro upgrades from Unity Pro rather than from Unity Pro + Asset server licenses. Very confusing! I’ll contact sales to see what it’ll cost to get the correct licenses.

Thanks for you help.
