Asset Server not installing on Debian

I posted this to answers but didn’t get any responses. Any advice from Unity support?

I’ve answered this on the Answers site, but it’s worth mentioning here too. The asset server is not supported on Debian. There is a .deb file available, but this is only for Ubuntu. Unfortunately, the Unity website doesn’t make it clear that this is the case.

That is confusing. I’ve posted an update to answers as Debian 5.0.4 (squeeze unstable) seems to install and work fine after a week of testing.

Any Unity Asset Server devs reading this care to comment?

I consulted the main asset server developer about this and his response was that we don’t support Debian as a platform. It is entirely possible that it works, but we don’t actually support it (in the sense that we don’t actively do QA on Debian, and we don’t make any commitment to fixing things should they go wrong).
