Asset Store Affiliate problems

Hi,

So the affiliate system is now open, but got rejected due to unity trademark in domain name…: /

Is there anyway around it? I mean i’d think most ‘fan-websites’ usually have the their fan-product in the url, is that really so bad?

If not then, what is the regex to validate safe domain name? un1ty.com, unityofscience-nottheengine.com? community-coders.com?

But wouldn’t be fun to have to make a mirror site with separate domain name just for this…or would that be allowed then?

@mgear

Were you ever able to get this resolved?

My application was rejected but they didn’t specify the reason. They just provided a long lists of potential reasons. I don’t know why they can’t just tell me the issue. Otherwise I have to guess, then reapply, then get rejected again, and over and over until I happen to guess the correct reason. I also tried emailing them at affiliates@unity3d.com but they seem to just ignore emails.

Had to register a new domain…
They don’t have ready list of forbidden names, other than unity (still words like communityxyz.com would be fine), but better ask first to be sure.

I got that generic email also, then wrote back to ask what was the reason… i think got reply within few days,
they have to enable your re-submission, cannot apply again before that…

Well now got a late reply that they changed into looking each application case by case…
Meaning, its possible to have ‘unity’ in the domain name : /

I will be very surprised if anyone makes any money except for the content creators themselves. 5% commission with a 24hr cookie is horrible for a non-exclusive product.

I got few dollars so far (at least way more than with google ads : )

but yeah…24h limit is quite bad,
also if you go buy inside Unity Asset Store window, probably doesnt track from there.

oh no… unity is doing it again…
