When I go to the Asset Store in the Unity editor, I get a grey screen. When I hover my mouse over it, the mouse cursor changes between the regular pointer, a text entry pointer, and a button press pointer at various locations. If I right click anywhere I get a menu to pop up that says “localized string not found” several times over. It seems like it’s not loading the assets properly but that they’re still ‘there’, they’re just all washed over in grey.
I’m running Unity 4.5.3 on Windows 7. I read something about a similar problem where the solution was to run Unity with administrator privledges, but I tried that and it didn’t work.
That worked. I don’t really understand how changing the player settings changed the asset store, but it worked. Hope this bug is fixed soon so I won’t need the workaround. Thanks.
I had the same problem. I fixed it by accessing Nvidia’s Control Panel and manually adding Unity Editor to it’s list of programs, and setting it to use my graphic card.
If you have a Nvidia graphic card:
Go under Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings
Under “1. Select a program to customize:”, select Unity Editor. Click “Add” if it is not under the list.
Under “2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:”, select Use global setting (High-performance NVIDIA processor).’
