Asset store not always using trash on update

Full disclosure: I’m running the beta of Mac OS X, 10.9.5 update.

For various reasons; after I choose to “Update” one of my assets (running Unity beta 4.6 b17) the old version sometimes doesn’t end up in the trash. (so I guess I’m a double-beta user).
This is important for me because I save previous versions (remove from trash, rename with version number and store in a separate folder). Since there is no way to recover (from a developer from releasing an update with feature-breaking “stuff”) older versions of the asset packages.
→ (bottom line) _ no idea if it’s a 10.9.5 beta update problem or a 4.6 beta or combo of both.

I found the non-deleted old version still in the ~/Library/Asset Store/Scripting GUI// (See image)

So it seems that due to a name change, the old package is not deleted. ← is this expected behavior?

I’ve always been seeing this too. I doubt it’s expected behaviour, because then it would also sensibly keep different versions with a version number tacked on. I suspect they just didn’t think that part of the system through
