Asset Store not working on Mac

I’m running Unity on a Macbook Pro running 10.7.3. Unity runs great but the Asset Store keeps freezing and not loading.

It’s so bad I’m assuming that Unity support on Mac is a lower priority. I say this because I’ve been reading that more people say they’re running Unity on Windows. Does this mean that Unity isn’t well supported on the Mac? Should I plan to only use Unity if I’m developing under Windows?

It works fine here (10.6). Mac and Windows have the same priority as far as I know (they are developed and released simultaneously). Considering you can’t do iOS development on Windows, it wouldn’t be very logical to come to the conclusion that OS X is not supported well over just one issue that could have any number of explanations, especially considering Windows users seem to have more issues with the Asset Store in the first place judging from the forums (perhaps just because of having more Windows users). Maybe there’s something wrong with your system–you should probably update to 10.7.5 anyway–or maybe there’s some issue with 10.7, but use the bug report app to report the problem regardless.

I found it was an internet security issue, so check your preferences and logs. I believe it was a url that was ec. or something. It’s an obscure one, so open the asset store (or try to) then go to the logs and find the newest internet blocks and allow those (assuming you don’t open anything else).

And Unity is made primarily for Mac, so it’s not a lack of support.

Thanks for the responses. Great to hear about full support for the Asset Store…especially as I am developing for iOS. Curiously I clicked Help>Report a Bug but nothing happened. Guess I’ll have to file a bug for the bug reporter too.

The Unity tool itself works great. I’m surprised at how buggy the auxiliary tools are though.

Seems I can’t report a bug as the Help>Report a Bug is the only way to do so…and it won’t launch.

You can just launch it from Finder. Check the console; sounds like something is messed up in your system.
