Asset Store - ToS

First off, I have to say I am very excited about the asset store. This has the potential to be a very great thing. But - I do have to mention one point of contention.

The Terms of Service (Terms) need to be written in “plain” English, and not legalize. Plus, if you ever expect to enforce such terms (at least in the US), they must be written in plain English.

I looked through the Terms and they spell out what we cannot do, and indemnify Unity should you wish to cancel the service , but they do not clearly state what we can do with the purchased assets. Where are the Terms which specify proper usage of the purchased assets? How does copyright, IP, etc, transfer to the purchaser? Are there source crediting requirements? Is each package governed by its own terms? Is the purchaser protected from any form of claw back royalties?

Again - I am very excited about the new marketplace for Unity assets. I think it will be great for all involved. I just have to think about the possibility of issues arising from rights which are not properly transferred.

That up to the authors. For example, take a look at the biped editor or UnitySteer (and probably others).

I couldn’t actually find the link to the asset store…!
I am busy downloading the new Unity now in the hopes that the link in in the Unity menus, but if not so, where is the link to the store? I would love to see what is available.

You launch a window from inside 3.1 to browse and purchase packages.

You can find some info and submit stuff here:

Im very excited about the asset store, but if I purchase an asset package and find out I can’t legally use it in my game, I’d be pretty cross. Are you saying there’s a package by package agreement that needs to be reviewed before spending any money?

basically, yes. Though I would expect that UT won’t approve any addition that is not allowed to be used in games, thats bullshit

There’s a standard license: basically it’s a royalty-free license - once you’ve bought something you can use it in any number of projects, paid or otherwise. This is the license we recommend.

Authors can also use their own license. If they do so, the asset’s page will have a link to the license (noticed by a big, friendly warning icon). Before you buy the item, you will have to click through that item’s EULA.

We have submitted - when do we start chatting about an upload?

whew, that’s a relief. Thanks for the answer to this!

Basically you can provide a License.txt file in your package root and the AssetStore will pick this up as explained above by Nicholas. If nonsuch file is present, then the default Unity AssetStore license is assumed and applies.

I do not really get it, it is possible to sell only art or unity packages as well?

You can sell anything that can be contained in a Unity project.

For example the AssetStore has an Extensions category which deals with anything not strictly game asset. Examples of these could be the shader graph editor / the sprite manager editor and runtime or my Behave AI library.

Sorry for being dumb, but I cannot find it. I found submit art thingy, but could you please tell me where is this Extensions category exactly?
Or it is still under development? THanks

I have submitted something a few days ago, but no one answer for now

If anyones still looking for it… the asset store is in unity3.1 just hit “window” “asset store”

It took more than 3 days, but I got no response.
If the package is not passed to the store, I’d like to get at least a negative response. Another would be nice to receive automatic e-mail confirmation when sending content.

The application process is more complicated than filling out the submission form. Everyone will receive a confirmation email eventually and from there a contract to sign and instructions on how to properly package content for the Asset Store. And it is true that not all content will be accepted for the Asset Store. In that case you will receive an email explaining why your content was not accepted.

Thank you

Still have not received a reply! May I know whether the response sent by e-mail foxrex@foxrex-game.ru
