Anyone got asset_server to run on Debian?
I had no luck using the CentOS rpm and have been trying to get asset_server compiled from source on a Debian etch server.
Any tips or thoughts?
I’ve attached where I’ve got to with compiling this.
Cheers

Looks like a mismatch between versions of postgresql (which I wasn’t using)
Not getting a response to above, I downloaded the OSX version, installed, rebooted but can’t see that working either.
Documentation suggests there should be an additional menu item in Unity but can’t see this.
Where should this be running from? Can’t even see any new software.
Thanks

It has been a while since I have played with this feature. It works on CENTOS 4.0, Debian and Feduroa along with Redhat, (at least back when I was messing around with the install), all you need is the latest GCC installed then run the RPM per the installation instructions. Although every time I did it I was using either VMWare fusion or Parallels with their image files. You can even download pre-configured PostGreSQL setups from each.
The asset server itself should aready be in Unity as far as the options go, but you have to configure it to know where the asset server is actually located unless they changed something that I am not aware of. I’ll play around with it when I get home tonight and give some further setup details. You shouldn’t have to install anything other than GCC and their package though.
I’m stumpted. I’ve downloaded and installed the Mac OSX server 1.0.1 but after restarting as instructed I see no Server menu in either Unity 2.5 or Unity iPhone 1.0
Any ideas?

You have Unity Pro and own an asset server license per workstation license?
I have a Unity Pro, iPhone basic trial license.
I am trying to eval the asset server.
You also need an Asset Server client license. Please contact sales@unity3d.com to request an evaluation license.
Thanks freyr.
I’m still waiting for a reply. Hope the eval arrives before my Unity Pro/iPhone Basic eval expires. I guess the week of GDC is not the best time to be trying to get support from a games company. sigh
