I am trying to release a first version of a Civilization-type game template on the AssetStore. I uploaded this first version on 11th of March, “it can take up to two weeks”. 3.5 weeks later, on 4th of April, I received an answer with five issues I should correct. I answered with questions about those issues, shortly after I received this mail. It’s 26th of April now, and today I sent a reminder mail.
I am writing this because I find the process of submitting something to the AssetStore frustrating if it takes months to do so. Even more so because my Civilization template is free and I wanted to “do something nice” by making it publicly available. It’s not perfect, there are several ToDos, and it has quite some size, but I still don’t see why this takes so incredibly long.
And reading about other people’s AssetStore experiences is also not very encouraging…
Is this normal for AssetStore publication? Or is it a strategy for “we don’t want your asset”? With the current speed it would probably take another 2-3 months until my asset sees the light of day. Should I just accept it, or give up?
Thanks for your opinion, encouraging words or for sharing your experience.
Our submission process is in place to best serve the content that we receive. It the future we would suggest looking through our Submission Guidelines (Unity Asset Store Submission Guidelines - Asset Store) to best avoid your product being rejected.
That being said, it looks like you never resubmitted your ‘Civilization!’ product after it was declined on April 3rd. If you were to address the issues with your product that we brought up and resubmit, we’d be more than happy to take another look at it.
I am positively surprised about the quick reply here - thank you I indeed didn’t resubmit it, I replied to the mail I got from the AssetStore Admin with questions I couldn’t answer myself by reading the submission guidelines. Since the email didn’t come from noreply@something and there was nothing mentioned in the mail that I shouldn’t directly reply, I replied there. Where should I instead ask about open questions?
Oh and I don’t claim the reasons for the rejection are invalid. It is a large project, there were things I didn’t think of (with especially the naming being pretty obvious one which I should have thought of myself ^^). I am sorry if I made this impression in the first post.
Thanks again for your answer,
Kind regards,
Doidel
