Assistance Required : Mesh looks grainy / low quality even though quality is max.

Hello, im testing out a car scenario in hdrp. As i import the car into the scene, there is noticable quality issues such as the mesh looking very grainy, happens in gamemode aswell. In the photo you can see the wheels and parts of the mesh look very low quality.

The quality setting is high fiedelty which im assuming is the max quality you can achieve.

Also material icons do not show up whatsoever so i have to click to see what it is.

I am not very experienced with the game engine so i apologise if i mader any stupid mistakes that you may get frustrated at.

You might want to try specular AA on some of the shinier materials, it helps a lot with glossy and metallic surfaces. As for lighting that’s a whole other can of worms but it can help your scene look much nicer.

(Also turn on TAA in scene view if you haven’t already)

Im sorry how do you turn on the anti aliasing? because i cannot seem to find it in the project settings (using HDRP pipline)

Thank you both for your assistance.

For Specular Anti Aliasing specifically, it’s not an HDRP setting it’s a setting specific to each material. Try turning it on for the materials on the car, since it makes shiny surfaces a lot nicer.

(You also want regular anti aliasing, refer to Qleenie’s post for that)

Hello, Thanks for you assistance. I managed to produce better results using your tips. Thanks once again.

btw credit to Black Snow on sketchfab for the model

Just be careful that you know you can use the asset if you intend to release a game. According to their profile some of the models are taken from game files. That means they’re stolen. If you ship with them and you’re caught you will be the one held responsible.

Additionally the models are directly replicas of real world car designs (eg a BMW in your screenshot) which require a license from the manufacturer to use so even if the asset itself was made by them you’re still going to be liable for copyright infringement if you use it.

Just looking through the assets they’ve made available I doubt any of them are legally usable.

Oh yes yes, I am very aware of this thank you. I just use these models as a temporary base until i finished modelling my own, and as for the “car brand” i will use a copyright free version. Thanks for raising awareness.
