I finally finished my first game ever, Astrovade! You can play it right here on Kongregate. Here are some images.
You control a ship and your goal is to evade an ever-increasing amount of asteroids. You can collect stardust to fill up your powerbar, which when full, allows you to unleash a screen-clearing shockwave that gives you bonus points for each asteroid destroyed. So, how long can you last? Kongregate will track your high score, survival time, and total asteroids destroyed.
This is my first Unity project and the first game I’ve ever completed, so while a very simple game, I’m quite proud of it. I created everything myself (graphics, music, sfx, etc) and used C# for the scripting. I also used NGUI for the UI.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated (good or bad)!
The most frustrating thing about this is the stardust taunts you into chasing it and getting smacked by an asteroid. That and the fact that you taunt my failure :(. Very good game 10/10 for its simplicity and challenge, plus it’s your first. Still working on my first aha.

Thank you, the stardust is definitely meant to be a risk/reward type of thing. I didn’t want to make it too easy since the shockwave is pretty powerful. I hope you weren’t too offended by the quips at the end! I kept going back and forth with myself about whether I should insult the player or not… but it’s all in good fun. If you do stick it out longer the game will actually start to compliment you.
Thanks! I did have to cut out a lot of cool things I wanted to include in order to make it small enough in scope so I could actually finish it. However I do plan to make a bigger and better version in the near future.
Very nice and simple indeed. I lasted 56 seconds at first try. I am trying to move in rhythm with the music, and it’s a kind of enjoying. Congratulations on your first game!
