A new story-driven adventure game for Oculus Rift from Aldin Dynamics.
Earthbound is an adventure game set in the 1930’s aboard a passenger airplane. It is the prequel and first chapter of ASUNDER; an upcoming story-driven exploration game. As of today the trailer has been made public — along with our plans for the future which we’re sharing here.
Like our first game, the Trial of the Rift Drifter (available on Oculus Share), Earthbound allows you to use natural head-gestures to interact with in game characters. Communicating with the passengers will gradually reveal the story as strange events begin to unfold. In giving right / wrong responses - you’ll feel the atmosphere in the airplane change as passengers become more or less agitated. Choose your responses with care, because every answer can—and will—alter your ultimate fate.
Earthbound will be available with support for both normal flat-screens and the Oculus Rift. The game itself is still under development and we’ll be sending out more information as we get closer to release.
A Step Towards ASUNDER Crowdfunding
While Earthbound is completely playable as a stand-alone game, we’re hoping to turn it into a first chapter of a longer game we’re planning — called ASUNDER. This will be a dark, story-driven exploration game which takes place after the events of Earthbound.
At this point we’re geared towards a Kickstarter campaign for Asunder — if everything goes well this will most likely happen early next year. But the speed of development and launchdate for a campaign depends heavily on how fast we can grow a large enough community of supporters. That’s where we need your help! Help us generate interest in Asunder — even posting a simple status update online about this can make all the difference in the world.
In the meantime, however, we’ll be releasing Earthbound to let you guys have some more fun! We hope you enjoy the trailer and we look forward to continue making awesome games for you guys to enjoy! We’re always happy to get your feedback — so feel free to send us a private email or leave a reply here.
Best regards from Aldin Dynamics.
