audio -tools to get audio sync to animation

Hi there everyone …

may be I should post this thread in “External-Tools-Forum” … but I feell there are quite different topics at home. … well:

I have about 25 years of experience in producing electronic music, but I am a newbie to game-audio, especially to unity. I have to create audio-fx for a Unity project … I love it, it´s fun, it´s creative … but in one point I am quite desperate: I need to create sound loops which should be perfect sync to the movements of the characters. (For example: steps, breath, sneeze …).

I use Logic Pro to create, record and manipulate the sounds, but I don´t know how to get them REALLY sync to the animation:

a) Some of the sounds are so short, that it´s hard to manipulate the waveform to the right position, because LOGIC counts in Beats, and I should rather put the audio to a FRAME-Postion.

b) to make the animation visible Outside of Unity I use short MOV-Videos, created by the developers. I can import these short videos into Logic and place the sounds along this video. - But: the videos are sequences of let me say 15 or 20 Loops of the animation, so I can not really identify the starting- and end-point of the animation-loop … therefore it is impossible for me to get it in sync.

Are there any hints if there are better tools to use, if there is a better way to get the workflow organized? - Every advice will be very welcome!

Thanks so far regards from germany!

a) get the fps from the animator. Say the animator worked at 30 fps you set your bps to the same value, so that frame = beat.

b) ask the animator to give you movs of only one cycle. The audiofiles you provide should not be longer than the animationfiles anyway.

Thanks a lot, very good hints.
Once struggling with the problem I overlooked the obvious!
