Augmented Reality (from an animator POV)-- please help me!!!

I’m beign asked if I can do a job for AR, they talked about Unity as the plataform and flash to output the thing. I know that a programer is involved, but I couldn’t talk with him yet; I don’t know if he knows what he’s doing or if he’s also new in this department.
1-Should I export the object with the animation from Maya in the usual way (using a NM and everything)?
2-Should I arrange the lights in Unity?
3-…or could I just bake the 3D animation in Maya, and use it -pretty much bypassing the use of Unity altogether? (I need as much quality as possible)
4-Is there any special consideration I should have?
I may need to link two animations to two buttons, but I guess that should be simple (?)
