Autobackups of scripts?

Hi, I got a bluescreen while editing one of my java scripts. after restarting my computer the file was empty. Doh! is there a backup file that gets stored somewhere?
also in unity an object that already had the script applied is still asking and displaying all the variables i have defined in the broken script. so it must get the information from somwehre?!
thanks for your help

-edit- i was using the Assembly-UnityScript software

You can backup Unity assets, including scripts, just as you backup your family photographs and other important documents.

There is no automatic backup done for you. Time to get one (actualy, that time was yesterday…)

If a user of the script shows variables, that is just because Unity has cached a definition of what public variables that script had… no use to you really.
