Automatic lip sync facial animation to text or audio?

Does anyone know of an asset that automatically animates a bone or morph based character to an audio file? I know FaceFX does that, but it’s really expensive. I’m looking for a similar solution.

Thanks!

iClone plus the 3DX pipeline does the same - I think there is a special offer on at the moment so you may be able to get it for half the price of facefx. There is speecher on the asset store. This will do lip syncing in Unity and is relatively cheap. But you do need to check whether it is suitable. I use it, but I only need talking heads and I have to do a workaround to avoid creating phoneme animations i.e. I reskin the model provided and use the phonemes included in the package but this is limiting to say the least and not much use if you want a number of lip synced characters. If you do consider Speecher I suggest you go to the website and read the requirements there because it’s not made clear in the asset store just what is required in a model to use Speecher on that model. It may be possible to get the phoneme animations and use them on other models by using anim knife, but although I looked into doing this I haven’t done it yet so I don’t know whether it is all that feasible. There is another rather cheap asset on the store called simple sync lite by QLC, this is very, very basic. The vendor did mention a pro version that was to be released, however, this has not appeared possibly because of the face pro feature being offered in Mixamo for Mecanim.
