Avatar Configuration hierarchy not saving

Hello,

I’m trying to import a model to use with VRChat. I mapped all the bones correctly except for the Spine transform not being a child of the Hips transform. I fix it, hit apply, everything looks good, but when I hit “done” my changes get reverted and now Spine is not a child of Hips again. What am I doing wrong? I’m using 5.6.3p1.

still having the same issue.. it's been 4 years lmao i hope someones found a fix

Same problem here, what im doing wrong?

I have the exact same problem, I just don’t understand.

Hello, I am having the same issue with Unity 2022.3.22f1 and above. Did you find any solution?

That sounds super frustrating. Unity can be a bit weird with humanoid rigs sometimes. A couple of things you might try: After making the changes, double-check that you're hitting Apply before closing the Avatar Configuration window. If it's still resetting, try reimporting the model and setting up the rig again from scratch. Sometimes Unity just needs a fresh start. Also, make sure you're using the correct Unity version for VRChat. DadeSchools

I think it maybe related to bad naming. It seems like unity's tool are using names and not path to the bones. So if you have 2 things both named finger_01 it screws up. But if you make them finger_l_01 and finger_r_01 it seems to like that better. Pretty bad this has been an issue for like 10 years.
