Hi everyone! I figured I would push this from the collaboration into a showcase thread since I’m updating with models and information.
For more information on the project please go here:

Clothing Pieces WIP -

LOTS more to come. Think we’re narrowing down the categories to : Hair,Head,Torso,Arms,Legs,Feet,Other
Avatar Tests ( 3d Studio Max ) -

Just testing some avatar designs as I continue to make more. Going to add some more crazy outfits as I continue.
Concept Images -

Basically this is the site layout I am going for the website. Simple enough for the beginner user and many options for the person who’s into deeper customization and achievement earning.
Remember we are always HIRING for practically any position so shoot me a pm if you’re interested.
We are looking for partner developers who are interested in creating minigames for the website and/or affiliates.
This thread will be continiously updated with content as our small team pushes forward.
Thank you all !

MINI UPDATE
Mini News
The rig for the Avatar character is now complete. Two seperate hair bones were attached for any hair animation, a bone line for coats, tails and animations can be easily ported from one character to another. ‘Box Character Rig’ also being completed for those interested in making minigames for the website.
New Clothing Kits ( Non-Textured ATM ) -
LoZ Link Kit
Soldier Kit

Any pieces / kits you’d like to see ? I’m always taking suggestions. After I’m done a few more kits I’m going to begin texturing all the objects.
Since your doing a LoZ kit you got to do a Mario/Luigi kit! 8)
Final Untextured Base 3d Models

This is the entire set of models I’m finishing for the first beta run as we continue work on the site.
The focus now is to unwrap and texture all these pieces and rig them up as soon as possible.
We also have a new member named DUB joining us. Experienced PHP website developer.
We are looking for anyone with coding experience with Unity who feels like they have enough experience to work with coding onto a website. As well as any graphic designers who are interested in helping with frontend graphic design.
Unfortunately at the moment it will be a volunteer with pending pay upon website completion ( if popularity is high, I will pay percentage, if not I will pay through my pocket for services )
Either way please feel free to contact me at david@avatarunlocked.com
Thank you!

Also you can now follow us on twitter for new updates :

and on youtube for upcoming renders of our 3d models/textures.
FRONT PAGE CONCEPT :

This is a CONCEPT ( not final images or layout ) for our front page. I decided to keep things simple while I designed this so no one would be too overwhelemed. The news in general I hope would be published by team members of all sorts on all type of geek matters to keep people coming back even just for information sakes.
Added a bar on the top of page showing how much Avatar points, Avatar credits, and Achievement Keys the user has as well as friends online/pm for easier accessibility to chat with others.
As usual always looking for new members : david@avatarunlocked.com
More to come!

- Update -
A few days since the last update but still trucking away. Nukotoys and Dub have been hard at work planning out specifics on how to handle the code of the site as I push on with art and 3d work.

The skeleton is compatible with bangs, long hair, ponytails, tails, coats, and front flaps. I’m trying to prepare for just about any object being on the character at all times. I mean a skeleton standing stuff isn’t that impressive so…

I managed to uvmap, put base colors and rig all of the base mesh and some of the parts ( so far a few shirts and pants ) and putting it into motion, breathing life into the avatar model.
Still much edits to go but looks like it’ll be a great base for when we integrate it all together!
Thanks for watching!

Will there be a feature that lets me take a picture of my character? I would love to change my picture from the druggy to a computer-me.
This is very impressive, I am actually doing something similar at the moment for my own site, but I am not nearly as far along as you are.
This looks very professional, I can tell this is going places.
- Texture Shader Test -

Had a little bit of time to play around with some small texture work and was able to toss it in the Unity Engine to test out the Skin/Specular shader with it and the results came out better then I’d hope. I’m going to tweak the brightness slightly for the skin but overall I’m content with the results.
Now to uvmap all the other pieces and attach them to the skeleton.
@CreativeCoding : Yes you will be able to take snapshots of your character in the ‘Snapshot Studio’
@Spiralgear : Thank you for the kind words!
Thank you all,
AU Team
This is looking very good! I really like the look of the characters!
Sorry for the other images being down, just upgrading hosting plan right now.
Here’s some clothing that I’ve managed to get smuggled in game with WIP textures :
Just testing some shirts, hair and sandals ( + a halo random item ) . All the eyebrows and eyes can be changed because they’re layed on TOP of the skin texture so any part can be switched. Textured can be added onto shirts ( and maybe in the future people can upload their own ) .
( Yes I know the fro sucks im gonna fix it up lol )
So far so good. Lots more to input.
Hey! My hair looks alot like that!
I would be careful putting the “Planet Express” logo on the fry character.
A character that looks like fry is no big deal, but planet express is a fictional business in the Futurama universe, and so is part of its IP. I would be especially careful if you are intending to sell it via micro-transaction, in which case you would likely get in more trouble than a simple cease and desist.
For the most part the flash/futurama logos are just to test the ability of texturing and shader functionality with ‘decal’ like textures. So they’ll eventually be gone.
I thank everyone for your comments and I’ll be updating soon with new pieces !
